Why it is important to visit a dentist in Havant

If you’re reading this, then we’ll bet that you’ve already decided to visit a dentist. But if you haven’t, we want to make sure that you know what a great decision it is!

A dentist is someone who provides specialist care for your teeth and gums. They can also be referred to as an oral health professional or dental hygienist. Dentists are highly trained in the field of dentistry, which means they have studied for many years and have been tested on their knowledge and skill set before being able to practice.

Dentists can help prevent tooth decay and gum disease by offering regular cleanings and checkups—these are important because they allow the dentist to examine your teeth for signs of decay or other problems so that they can be treated before they become more serious or painful. It’s also important for your overall health; people with poor oral hygiene are more likely to develop diabetes and heart disease. So if you’re not getting regular checkups from a dentist and you are based in Havant, why not book an appointment at our dentist, Parkway Dental Care where our experienced dentist will be able to attend to all of your dental concerns.

About our practice; Parkway Dental Care

Considered to be one of the leading dental practices in Hampshire, Parkway Dental Care has been providing high quality dental care to our patients since 1994. At our practice, a dentist in Havant, we offer dental treatments within general, cosmetic and preventive dentistry. We have an experienced team of dentists, dental hygienists, dental nurses and receptionists who all work together to provide high quality dental treatments for all our patients.

However if you have not visited our practice before and you are considering having dental treatment, we will invite you to our practice to have a new patient examination.

What to expect as a new patient at Parkway Dental Care

Prior to your first appointment at our practice, we will ask you to fill out both our new patient and medical patient forms. This can be sent over to you in the post or alternatively, you can also fill out the forms when you visit our practice for the first time. Providing your medical and dental history is important as it allows us to be aware of all aspects of your health and whether you have any pre-existing conditions as this can affect your dental health. Knowing your medical history also allows us to provide you with both the safest and most effective treatment.

You can expect your appointment with our dentist in Havant to last 20 minutes. This will allow our dentist to carry out an extensive assessment of your teeth and gums, taking x rays and photographs where necessary. Our dentist will also carry out oral cancer screening of your mouth and provide you with advice on how to look after your teeth in between appointments.

Should you not need any further treatment, you will be booked in for a dental check up. We recommend that our patients should book regular dental appointments every six months to maintain healthy teeth and gums.
